Mt Cordeaux & Bare Rock – Double Trouble, Double the Views

The doctor said, “Go hike each week,

Fresh air and trails are what you seek.

”No pills, no shots, no medicine brew—

Just mountains high and skies so blue.

So off I marched with boots laced tight,

Two peaks ahead, what a grand sight!

Mt Cordeaux first, then Bare Rock too,

A double adventure with double the view.

The trail began all soft and sweet,

With leafy carpets beneath my feet.

Logs to clamber, mud to squish,

A crunchy, splashy, messy dish!

I looked around for leeches near,

But not a single one appeared.

“Hooray!” I cheered, “today I’m free—

No slimy hitchhikers clinging to me!”

Up, up, up the path I climbed,

Through bush so wild and views divine.

Gum trees standing proud and tall,

Flowers like trumpets, the weirdest of all!

At last the summit came in view,

And oh! The world looked wide and new.

The hills rolled on, the valleys too,

Queensland stretched as far as I knew.

But wait—there’s more! A cousin peak,

Another climb, another sneak.

Bare Rock sat high, so bold, so grand,

A giant lookout across the land.

I dangled my boots from the rocky ledge,

Sun on my face at the mountain’s edge.

I munched on an apple, a sanga too,

Feeling like queen of the world with a view.

The shadows stretched, the sky grew red,

“Best hurry home,” my tummy said.

Down I ran with muddy shoes,

Buzzing with joy from mountain views.

Back at the car, all tired but proud,

I grinned so wide I laughed out loud.

Double the peaks, double the fun,

This Mumma’s adventure was two-for-one!

Mumma Dingo’s Tips for Kids

  • Wear good shoes, not beachy gear—

  • The bush is wild, the scrub is near!

  • Pack a sanga, foil-wrapped tight,

  • For hungry bellies at summit height.

  • Bring a buddy, don’t roam alone,

  • And tell your folks before you’ve flown.

  • Take your time, enjoy the skies,

  • The views are treasures for your eyes.
