Mumma Dingo’s Lamington Adventure

ree

G’day my legends, come gather around,

For a tale of a hike where magic was found.

To Lamington’s forest I wandered one day,

With roots, rocks and rivers all guiding the way.

The road in itself was a test of my might,

It twisted and turned and gave me a fright.

Cars, cows and wallabies popped out to play,

I slowed myself down—no rally today!

Through rainforest paths so ancient, so tall,

I marched to the music of birds’ forest call.

The trees wore green jackets of moss, thick and bright,

It felt like a jungle from movies at night.

I reached Morans Falls, and oh, what a show,

The water came tumbling, a silvery glow.

I breathed in the air, so fresh and so sweet,

This magical valley was truly a treat.

Then onwards I went with a bounce in my stride,

Through fire trails, tree roots, and branches so wide.

It felt like a jungle gym—clamber and crawl,

Like Tarzan (or Mumma Dingo!) answering the call.

Moonlight Crag whispered, “Come climb up to me!”

But oh dear, the “peak” was a rock by a tree.

No grand sweeping views, no mountains so high,

Just one little rock waving shyly, “Oh hi.”

But lucky for me, the lookout nearby,

Showed valleys and ridges and clouds in the sky.

That’s where the beauty had chosen to stay,

A picture of magic to brighten my day.

Next came Balancing Rock with its wonderful track,

A jungle adventure with roots at my back.

I ducked and I scrambled, I laughed and I swung,

Like clumsy old Tarzan (but louder, less young!).

The Wishing Tree called me, “Come visit, come near!”

And Python Falls whispered, “We’re waiting right here!”

But Mumma Dingo sighed, “It’s dinner o’clock,

I must head on home—though the views really rock.”

So four hours of walking, of laughter and fun,

Of waterfalls gleaming and battles half-won.

A bag full of liquorice, that’s how it goes,

Some bits are amazing, some tickle your nose.

But together it worked, this fine hiking day,

And Lamington’s magic still calls me to stay.

So I’ll come back again, that’s a promise I keep,

But for now, my dear legends, it’s time for some sleep.

Adios from your Dingo, who loves to explore,

Till the next hiking tale knocks again on my door!
