Product Review: Aldi Hiking Boots – $39.99 Bargain Gold

ree

As with any hobby you think you might start, you don’t want to drop serious coin on gear right away, right?

So when I started hiking, I wasn’t about to shell out $300 for some elite boots when I wasn’t even sure I’d survive my first leech encounter. (Spoiler: I did. Barely.)

Now, shoes are arguably the most important bit of hiking gear. Hiking in my usual footwear of choice — thongs (that’s flip-flops for my international followers) — is not only impractical, it’s straight-up dangerous. Also, it turns your feet into a mobile buffet for leeches. And if you’ve been following me, you already know how I feel about leeches. [Insert dramatic eye twitch.]

Cue Aldi. I’m doing the weekly grocery run, and as always, I detour through the magical middle aisle — you know the one where your trolley suddenly contains snow gear, a kayak, and a pack of screwdrivers. And there they were… Hiking boots. $39.99.

Tried them on. Fit great.Take my money, Aldi.

And mate — they turned out to be one of my best cheap buys ever.

They lasted two years of rugged bushwalking, creek crossings, toddler chasing, and, yes, leech-dodging. I only just chucked them out because they reeked and I decided to spoil myself for my 40th birthday with a sexy new pair of boots (review coming soon!).

✅ My Aldi Boot Verdict:

  • Comfort: So, so comfortable. No breaking-in needed.

  • Leech-proof: No mesh panels = no sneaky leech access.

  • Durable: No holes, strong stitching, solid laces.

  • Affordable: $39.99 for two years of wear? Can’t beat it.

Would I buy them again? In a heartbeat. Perfect starter boots for any bush-bound adventurer on a budget.
